MARSHALLS REACH SEMI-FINALS

Marshalls Sports won through to the semi-finals of the North Lindsey League First Division Knockout Cup yesterday, beating Caistor Cougars 2-1 in a bowl-off following a second rain interupted attempt to play their first round match. This time around they did manage to make a start but with the score standing at 152 for 8 at tea the heavens opened and everyone agreed to settle the tie with a bowl-off, sending the Gainsborough outfit into a semi-final trip to Scunthorpe 4ths on Sunday.

DIVISION ONE
Barton Town 3rds registered a total of 172 for 9 against Appleby-Frodingham 3rds at Marsh Lane with Will Yates hitting 50 and Frod had reached 40 without loss in reply when the rain brought an early end to proceedings.

DIVISION TWO
League leaders Grimsby Town 3rds gained three points following the news that Wheatley & Leverton were unable to raise a team whilst the other two scheduled games in this Division were rain affected, the first being at Brigg where Broughton 3rds made 177 for 6, with Brigg's reply stalling at 26 for 0 when the wet stuff arrived. The Isle of Axholme derby appeared to be heading in Haxey's favour thanks to 133 from Rob Young against Outcasts as the home team set a huge target of 227 but there was no further play after the teams had had their tea.

DIVISION THREE
The only game that was played to a conclusion was at Luddington who thumped an under strength but plucky Bottesford team by 170 runs. Darren Clark starred with the bat once again , scoring 125 not out as Luddington posted a total of 221 for 1 , Danny Taylor making 39 and Andy Lawson 39 not out as the Isle side romped to a massive total and although there were periods of drizzle it was never enough to force the teams off and Luddington went on to wrap things up by bowling Bottesford out for 51 , Matt Mellers continuing his good bowling form when taking 4 for 21. Epworth travelled to Everton 3rds and scored 105 alll out Andy Bates scoring 26 whilst Tom Mills took 3 for 37 but once again the weather intervened with Everton on 23 for 0 leaving the teams sharing a point each and finally it was no different up the road at Upton cum Kexby who had reached 70 for 2 against Barton Acadamy Vikings when they were forced off the field.

PLEASE NOTE
Clubs are reminded that Everton play their home games on a synthetic pitch and not on grass which means opponents should not wear spikes.
Clubs are also reminded that it is the responsibility of any club forfeiting a match to let the opposition and the umpires' secretary know that they are unable to raise a team.
