SOUTH LINCS AND BORDER LEAGUE - FROM ANN BOULTON


Billingborough and Spalding moved ahead of their rivals for the South Lincolnshire & Border League championship, both picking up 20 points while rivals Stamford Town lost to Lindum Ramblers and now trail the top two by 22 points.
The most exciting game was London Road where Sleaford 2nd and Woodhall Spa 2nd ended on the same total.  Ben Burrows hit 65 and Simon Godby 81 as Sleaford notched up 223 for seven only to see Barney Green make 76 to push Woodhall to 223 for eight at the close.
Geordie Scott was again the mainstay of Billingborough’s victory over Moulton Harrox, taking five wickets and making 79 runs.  Moulton were all out for 146 all and Dave Newman (64) and Scott saw their team home without loss.
Spalding had a harder game against Bourne 2nd who were all out for 129 but bagged six Spalding wickets before the visitors claimed victory.
Division One’s only centurion was Dave Richardson who was 100 not out in Belton Park’s win over Market Deeping 2nd.
Welby continue to dominate Division Two, beating Blankney in a low scoring game to stay seven ahead of Spalding 2nd with two games in hand.
Spalding are 19 up on Heckington after victory over Boston 2nd while Heckington and Baston fought out a high scoring game in which Will Charlesworth hit 93 in Heckington’s score of 254 with Baston putting up a spirited chase to finish 218 for eight.
Friskney and Claypole continued their battle for the Division Three title, with Friskney coming out on top in their clash at the Newark side’s ground.  Damien Lawson made 94 in Friskney’s total of 231 for nine and despite a maiden half century for Rob Pealing, the home side were all out for 171.
Spalding 3rd head the chasing pack with Lindum Academy and Timberland close behind.  Grantham hit the highest team total with 247 for six of which Austen Imber made an unbeaten 157 in his side’s win over Welby 2nd.
