CAISTOR ROMP TO 10 OVER WIN OVER BARTON

BY GLEN SANDS

Scunthorpe Town continue to lead the way in Division One  of the North Lindsey Cricket League and remain four points clear at the top after beating Broughton by 68 runs at Heslam Park on Sunday.
Ramesh Chand hit 97 and Ian Snowden 54 as they set a target of 242 for 4 before bowling Broughton out for 174, George Jackson picking up 3 for 19 as Nick Crawford made 40, James Watson 37 and Neil Simpson 31 not out.
Caistor Cougars made quick work of their game against Barton Academy Vikings who were bowled out for 71 by off-spinner Kieran Brooker who took 6 for 18 and seamer Ben Barrick who picked up 3 for 5 - before Harry Boulton replied with 50 not out in Cougars' total of 72 without loss in just ten overs!
Appleby-Frodingham fielded a strong team against Outcasts who were short on numbers due to the Bob Welton Cup Final and the Steelmen showed no mercy as they racked up 305 for 6, Duncan Heath retiring on 101 while Jack Dixon hit 65. Heath then took 6 for 15 as the Isle side were bowled out for 59.

DIVISION TWO
Leaders Hibaldstow slipped up at Cleethorpes when losing by thre wickets but they remain four points clear at the top. Dale Coy hit 78 and Karl Nazareth 29 in their total of 188 for 7, Lewis Markham taking 5 for 38 for Dean Cressey's men who replied with 189 for 7 thanks chiefly to Rob Cowlam who scored 51 and Graham Hume who added 48, Nazareth showing his all round abilities when taking 4 for 50 for Hibaldstow.
Haxey finished their season with a two wicket defeat at Messingham, hitting 155 for 4 with Joe Coggan batting through the innings for 48 not out before Messingham squeezed to 156 for 8, Shaun Bridges making a half-century as Andrew Steeper took 5 for 21 for Haxey.

DIVISION THREE
Everton kept their hopes of promotion alive but were made to battle all the way at Blyth who can count themselves unfortunate not to have picked up their first win of the season.
Nick Widdowson hit 50 and Andrew Toft 41 when Blyth posted a scoe of 148 all out, Rob Hunter-Shaw taking 3 for 26 and Glen Cruickshank 3 for 43. And they looked set for that overdue win until Everton snatched a one-wicket win thanks chiefly to Ed Campbell who scored 47, Toft taking 4 for 23 for the valiant losers.
Finally, the biggest sore of the day saw Broughton 4ths make 312 for 6 against Normanby Park with 15 year old David Tierney hitting a quite magnificent 130 not out and Craig Hall adding 84 before Normanby replied with 185 all out, Zac Meadows top scoring with 82 and Declan Dunning 49 as Tom Reed picked up 3 for 25.
