WORLD CUP CLARIFICATION

For those Lincolnshire County Cricket League clubs thinking of an earlier start time on the day England footballers play their first game in the World Cup in South Africa (June 12), here's a reminder of the position...
The issue was raised at the league's pre-season meeting, when chairman Bob Welton (pictured) made it clear that any alteration to the specified start time (1pm or 1.30pm depending on the division) could only take place with the agreement of both teams and the umpires.
One request for a noon start has already reached the league this week, and others are expected to follow.
