DON'T LAND US IN THE BLACK STUFF

In the review of matches penned for the first round of the John Pettit Grimsby and District League's midweek Ibwest Cup, reference was made to a great century by Patrick Hughes.
We are now slipping into the mode of his namesake "Yossa" Hughes, from TV's Boys from the Blackstuff. But rather than "Gizza Job" our request is "Gizza scoresheet!"
Those teams winning their opening ties (either in round one or round two) should now have arranged their next, or even have played it.
Yet information is very slow coming through to the league.
Can we ask all clubs to get their games fixed up as soon as possible - the home team should contact their opponents - and let the league know the outcome of the tie, with a scoresheet, as soon as possible following the game. The postal address is 10 Springfield Road, Brigg, DN20 8DD.
Simon Blow, Sports Editor of the Grimsby Telegraph, has made a request to the League to be informed of ties in forthcoming rounds, as he'd like to send a photographer along to record the highlights. If you wish your tie to be considered by the Telegraph, please email details of where, when and start time to me and I'll forward those received to the sports department. My email is scoopfisher@aol.com
Thanks - and I hope you all have some enjoyable cricket to come. Whether or not you are already out of the Ibwest Cup and "concentrating on the league" as they like to say in football circles!
