OUTCASTS ON THE BALL

Compiled by Glen Sands

All three scheduled First Division matches in the North Lindsey Cricket League were cancelled yesterday, due to the England v Germany World Cup football match. They have been rearranged for later in the season, although all teams that cancelled will more than likely wish they had played, in view of the result!

DIVISION TWO
Outcasts 3rds gained their first league victory of 2010 when beating Brigg Town in an elongated affair at Hirst Priory. Outcasts batted first when the match started at 12 30pm and scored an impressive 208 for 5 with Jamie Belton hitting 93 and skipper Russell Fletcher 69, Paul Musslewhite taking 3 for 78 for the visitors who replied with 71 all-out after they had watched the football match, Liam McAnaney picking up 3 for 18 and Graeme Fletcher 2 for 6 as the Priorymen eased to a welcome win.
Wheatley & Leverton scored 211 for 8 against Hibaldstow 2nds, thanks chiefly to 70 from John Loates and 59 from James Waller, Mark Nicholson taking 3 for 46 for Hibaldstow, who made 147 in reply, Jack Stothard top scoring with 37, while Loates grabbed an impressive 3 for 4 for Wheatley. Broughton 3rds and Haxey 3rds had agreed to play a 20/20 match to take in the football but sadly for Haxey they were unable to raise enough players to travel, resulting in them having to forfeit the match. Alkborough 3rds and Grimsby Town 3rds will play their scheduled game later in the season.

DIVISION THREE
Barton Academy Vikings moved level with Luddington after beating Misterton 2nds in an entertaining match at Marsh Lane. Vikings batted first and scored 195 for 6, young opener Shreeve hitting 96 and Jeremy Evans 27. Misterton appeared set to overhaul their total until Tim Sharpe fell for 93, the Gainsborough outfit falling 38 runs short as Tom Palin took 4 for 27. The other scheduled match between Epworth and Bottesford will now be played on August 22.
