Grainthorpe Cricket Club veteran Adrian Smart (above) achieved the tremendous milestone of 500 league wickets for the club on Sunday when the team defeated Louth. Adrian (52) has played for the club since it was formed in 1977, becoming founder members of the East Lindsey Cricket League a year later. During his 34 year playing career he has made 343 league appearances, amassed over 4,600 league runs, and taken 95 catches. In the last 2 seasons he has also made several appearances for Lincolnshire Over 50’s. Over the years many a young cricketer has learned a considerable amount from Adrian, not only about bowling and batting but also about the spirit of the game and how to conduct yourself on the field of play. Adrian continues to perform for the club at a very high standard.
All club members would like to congratulate Adrian on his achievements and hope he continues playing for many years to come.
