SUCCESSFUL DEBUT

Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club's first August bank holiday Monday Twenty20 tournament was staged yesterday at Heslam Park.
We popped in for a look before going on to Hirst Priory for the traditional friendly against Fletch's X1 and have asked Scunthorpe (through Hari Bansal) to kindly forward full details so we can feature them on Lincs Cricket Latest.
Jack Richards, in charge of the Lincolnshire Yellowbellies, was necking a few pints in preparation for his side's first game, and while chatting to John Danson outside the clubhouse we looked up to see major celebrations on the field. It appeared veteran 55-year-old Mohammed (Iggy) Ibrahim had completed a hat-trick by dismissing Tim (Fozzy) Foster.
Doubtless that fact will be confirmed by Liam Redmond, who failed to make the start time for the tournament, having been on duty at a pop festival in Leeds.
Our picture shows Scunthorpe Town's Ian Snowden (left) in strict training with a glass of water, rather than beer, alongside Yellowbelly batsman Dale Coy, the South Kelsey Lincs League premier division strokemaker and Hibaldstow North Lindsey League stalwart (aka The Coy Wonder).
