EVER THOUGHT OF BEING AN UMP?

Most Septembers see umpires calling it a day - certainly in the Scunthorpe area - and this one will be no exception, with rumours several could be retiring.
That means we need to recruit willing replacements. If you fancy donning the white coat, the Scunthorpe and District Umpires' Association runs a course at Brumby Hall cricket pavilion in Scunthorpe, usually January to March, at the end of which a test can be taken to qualify you to stand in league matches on Saturdays and Sundays.
You don't have to commit to standing every week, or to do Saturdays and Sundays. Whatever your availability, the association will try to accommodate you.
For full details contact chairman Mick Knapton on 01469 53093 or secretary Mrs Jo Walker, tel 01724 762082. You can email the 'hon sec' direct through this link, courtesy of Lincs Cricket Latest
JO WALKER
The Scunthorpe Association is to hold its end-of-season meeting on Thursday, September 17 at Brumby Hall pavilion (7pm), with the AGM (same venue, same time) on Thursday, October 15.
The initial meeting dates for 2010 are: January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15 (pre-season) and July 15 (mid-season).
I must admit to putting these dates online just in case, as usual, I misplace the letter sent by Jo informing all members of meeting dates for the months ahead.
