MANSFIELD MAN OF THE MATCH

Cleethorpes Cricket Club hosted the Under 13 Cup Final between Louth and Cleethorpes. Due to poor conditions, and an even worse forecast, the game was reduced to 25 overs a side. Cleethorpes won the toss and skipper Ian Mansfield elected to bat first. David Mansfield got Cleethorpes off to a good start with 25 retired. However a couple of quick wickets from Elston brought Louth back into the game. Ian Mansfield then produced a captain’s innings and steadied the ship with 26 retired whilst Waiton, Greenhalgh and Tutty all contributed to the respectable score of 124. Ian Mansfield opened the bowling for Cleethorpes and struck with the first delivery off the innings and then again in the same over to claim two early victims. Two more wickets in his next three overs ensured Louth’s top order was destroyed. Avis, D. Mansfield and Harrison also picked up wickets - but Ian Mansfield with five wickets was the stand out bowler and received the man of the match award for his fine display with both bat and ball.
