SNAITH & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

BY GLEN SANDS

Goole Town have taken a clear lead at the top of Division One following their nine wicket victory over previously unbeaten Outcasts who made 62 for 7 in their allotted overs only for Town to cruise to 63 for 1 , Nottingham hitting 31 and Ounsley 28 not out. Fishlake lie two points behind in second as their game against Hensall was postponed due to wet conditions whilst Askern Welfare won a low scoring game at Airmyn who were bowled out for 82 before Askern replied with 84 for 6. Finally in Division One Jake Wild hit 53 not out , Phil Alford 52 and Craig Lawson 28 as Hirst set a target of 155 for 2 against Burn who reached 140 for 5 in reply , youngsters Montgomery ( 67 ) and Rich ( 50 ) leading the way in their run chase.

SNAITH & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Leaders Eggborough were left kicking their heels when their game at Drax was called off due to wet conditions which allowed second placed Howden Town to close the gap at the top to just one point following their narrow seven runs victory at Thorne Colliery , Pounder hitting 28 for Howden in their first innings total of 94 for 6 before Thorne fell just short with their score of 87 for 6 , Walton hitting 25 for the Colliery team. Pollington gained their first win of the season when they beat Sykehouse , who made 77 for 6 thanks chiefly to Edwards 26 , then Paul Freeman scored 22 and Paul Baker 20 as Pollington reached 79 for 7 to claim the points. Finally in Division Two Carlton Towers were awarded the points against Goole Firemen who once again were unable to raise a team. As was the case last week the League would urge someone from the club to contact the Snaith League committee to discuss their intentions for the rest of the season.
