GREAT NIGHT OF MEMORIES

It was an honour to be asked to speak at Brocklesby Park Cricket Club's dinner last night, looking back at games in which I played for the historic club over a 12-year period.
The great work done by statistical wizard Richard Bedwell (above left) in inputting the scorecards of all these games made it easy just to print off a selection and recount some suitable memories.
These included four wickets in the same over by Michael Burbidge (all victims being stumped) against Elsham Golf Club, in a midweek friendly.
This was a fitting anecdote, as Elsham Golf Club's function suite was the venue for the annual meal.
Twenty-six of us enjoyed a great night - and they even picked me up and took me home again. The carvery meal was excellent and the well-supported raffle raised a tidy sum to help with costs.
Brock Park will again be competing in the West Wold Midweek League and the East Lindsey League at weekends.

MORE PICTURES FROM THIS EVENT WILL APPEAR IN DUE COURSE ON THE WEBSITE BRIGG PEOPLE. A FURTHER SELECTION HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO THE UPMARKET LINCOLNSHIRE JOURNAL MAGAZINE, HOPEFULLY FOR USE IN THE SOCIETY PAGES. SO KEEP WATCHING!

Keith Smith (left), Tim Hartley (right) and Peter Burbidge (centre), who appears to be finding the topic of conversation a bit of a hot potato!

Having a laugh with Nick Beacock, second right!

Nev Page may have only just have squeezed into this picture but he did feature in several of my anecdotes, including when he dismissed Cleethorpes and Lincolnshire legend Martin Maslin for 19, courtesy of a Lewis Strange catch, during a match between Brocklesby Park and Ray Mawer's X1 at the historic country venue.
