JULY 31 SNAITH EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Goole Town clinched the Division One title on July 31st when they beat lowly Airmyn by five wickets. Airmyn batted first making 54 for 7 before the visitors wrapped up the defence of their trophy when reaching 55 for 5 which meant that second placed Outcasts win at Thorne Colliery left them just one point behind Town , Andrew Lawson hitting 36 not out as the Isle side replied to Thorne's 66 for 4 with 67 for 2. Airmyn's defeat means they will finish in the bottom two of the table. The one other Division One match saw Askern Welfare beat relegated Howden Town by 28 runs , posting a total of 129 for 5 thanks chiefly to Gibbon who hit 63 with Dash taking 4 for 5 for Howden   then Gibbon took centre stage with the ball picking up 3 for 8 as Howden reached 101 for 9 , Walker top scoring with 30.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
The Second Division title has been shared by Carlton Towers and Sykehouse who both ended the season on 32 points. Sykehouse were due to meet ollington in their final game only for Pollington to forfeit due to lack of numbers whilst Carlton finished with a big victory over Drax Village as they racked up 169 for 7 , Scott Woffenden making not out and Rob Holah 31 not out before Drax were reduced to 67 for 9 , Ellin taking an exceptional 6 for 11 for Carlton.Hirst Courtne climbed into third spot after a comfortable eight wicket win over Eggborough who were bowled out for 87 after ich Hirst eased to 88 for 2 and finlly in Division Two Hensall brought thseason to a close with a huge win over Burn , setting a total of 208 for 7 thanks to Richard Whaley ( 64 ) and Reeson ( 46 ) en bowling Burn out r 112 , Whaley taking 4 for 22 with Elliott hittin31.

AIRMYN  v  GOOLE TOWN
Aimyn : 54 for 7
Goe : 55 for 5
RESULT : GOOLE TOWN  win by 5 wickets and clinch the title

ASKERN WELFARE  v  HOWDEN TOWN
Askern : 129 for  ( R Gibbon 63 )
Howden : 101 for 9 ( Walker 30 )  R Gibbon 3 for 8
RESULT : ASKERN WELFARE win by 28 runs

THORNE COLLIERY  v  OUTCASTS
Thorne : 66 for 4
Outcasts : 67 for 2 ( A Lawson 36 no )
RESULT : OUTCASTS win by 8 wickets

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

BURN  v  HENSALL
Hensall : 208 for 7 ( R Whaley 64 ; N Reeson 46 )
Burn : 112 all out  ( Elliott 31 )  R Whaley 4 for 22
RESULT : HENSALL win by 96 runs

CARLTON TOWERS  v  DRAX VILLAGE
Carlton : 169 for 7 ( S Woffenden 58 no ; R Holah 31 no )
Drax : 67 for 9        L Ellin 6 for 11
RESULT : CARLTON TOWERS win by 102 runs

HIRST COURTNEY  v  EGGBOROUGH
Eggborough : 87 all out
Hirst : 88 for 2
RESULT : HIRST COURTNEY win by 8 wickets

SYKEHOUSE  v  POLLINGTON   -  Postponed  -  Pollington unable to field a team

RESULT : SYKEHOUSE win by default

Thorne Colliery v Airmyn are due to play their outsatnding fixture on Thursday August 7th.
