AUGUST 9 LINCOLNSHIRE ECB CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY ANN BOULTON

READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

The bottom of the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League provided the closest game of the day as 11th placed Billingborough and 12th placed Market Rasen fought out a draw at Horbling Road with the home side coming out on top by just 14 runs.
Tom Boryszcuk took five wickets for Rasen as Billingborough reached 165 for nine off their 50 overs.  Matt Rutherford then hit 63 but couldn’t quite get his side over the line.  Billingborough’s 13 points to Rasen’s nine put them 21 ahead of their opponents while Grimsby stayed 10th, 16 up on Billingborough after going down to leaders Bourne.
Maninder Singh hit 61 as Grimsby denied their hosts maximum bowling points by posting 171 for eight at the close.  Pete Morgan made an unbeaten 91 as Bourne reached their target for the loss of four wickets to take 16 points.
This narrowed the gap slightly at the top after Bracebridge Heath took the full 20 at Market Deeping who were bowled out for 173, 100 adrift of their visitors’ total of 273 for eight.
Woodhall Spa moved into third following their victory at Jubilee Park where Jonny Cheer hit 94 and Malinga Bandara notched up his second century in two weeks, finishing 100 not out as the home side reached 265 for five before bowling Spalding out for 99.
Lindum stay fourth with a game in hand after skittling Louth for 100 then losing six wickets on their way to victory.
The highest scoring game was at Sleaford where Tim McIntosh’s unbeaten 179 helped his side to 325 for three.  But Skegness also enjoyed the good batting track, Peter Houghton making 85 and despite McIntosh taking seven wickets, the seasiders held on for a losing draw with 254 for nine.
