SOUTH LINCS AND BORDER LEAGUE - AUG 17

With 20 points each in the bag, Billingborough and Boston retained their places at the top of the South Lincolnshire & Border League Premier Division, making next weekend’s match between the two at the Mayflower Ground a possible title decider.
Andrew Hewitt took five wickets for eight runs for Boston in their eight wicket win over Skegness 2nd while David Gollop took seven for 31 as Billingborough overcame Welby by five wickets.
Bourne 2nd stay third after once again notching up the day’s highest score against Belton Park.  Robert Dunn hit 102 not out and Tom Dixon an unbeaten 110 as Bourne declared on 267 for two.  But Belton also batted well and reached 200 for six at the close, Nick Law with 63.
Stamford Town stayed in touch with the leaders despite failing to bowl out Woodhall Spa 2nd who finished on 129 for nine, a total Stamford overtook for the loss of only one wicket, Andrew Hume making 55 and Zac Chappell 60, both unbeaten.
Grantham’s good season continued with victory over Lindum Ramblers which moved them up to fifth.
With a 40 point lead at the top of Division One, Long Sutton recorded their 14th victory out of 15 against Billingborough 2nd but behind them Baston, Stamford Town 2nd and Friskney remain locked in battle for 2nd place, Baston beating Heckington and Stamford overcoming Spalding 2nd while Friskney went down to Boston 2nd for whom Herbert Ushewokunze hit 71.
Long Sutton’s 2nd XI also opened up the gap at the top of Division Two, beating Pinchbeck while second placed Cavaliers went down to Lindum 3rd who are now up to third place.  James Langford too five for 27 for Pinchbeck but Rob Simpson replied with a devastating five for eight off eight overs for Long Sutton.
Cavaliers are now 26 points behind their rivals while Lindum trail he Peterborough side by 50 but with two games in hand.
Phil Abbott took five wickets for 11 runs for Grantham 2nd against Welby and two half centuries came in the top scoring game of the division between Claypole, who stay fourth, and Timberland.
