SOUTH LINCS AND BORDER HIGHLIGHTS - AUGUST 3 GAMES

BY ANN BOULTON

Boston and Billingborough remain locked at the top of the South Lincolnshire & Border League Premier Division after both once again brought home 20 points with victories over Moulton Harrox and Skegness 2nd respectively.
But it was Stamford Town who recorded the division’s highest run chase.  Faced with a Sleaford 2nd score of 257 for eight, Stamford went on to win by seven wickets, thanks in part to 16 year old Zac Chappell’s unbeaten 118 which came off 103 balls with 11 fours and four sixes.
Tom Bentley was the division’s only other century maker, his 115 taking Bourne to 230 for seven.  Xante Xipu then took five wickets as Woodhall Spa 2nd were restricted to 184 for eight, a haul that was eclipsed by Sam Peter’s seven for 23 for Grantham in their win over Welby.
In Division One, Tim Dyer was among the wickets for Baston, taking five for seven as his side beat Thomas Cook by four wickets.  While Long Sutton continue to dominate the table, recording an eight wicket win over Blankney, only three points separate the three teams below them, Friskney just hanging on to second place despite being beaten by third placed Stamford Town 2nd who are one ahead of Baston in fourth.
One century was scored in this division, Will Charlesworth hitting 127 not out for Heckington who declared on 261 for six before bowling Boston 2nd out for 120.
In Division Two, Lindum 3rd recorded the highest score of the day, declaring on 300 for four after Will Marris had hit an unbeaten 127 and Ollie Alford 83.  Timberland were then all out for 155.
Haris Nadeem finished with the division’s best bowling figures, his seven overs bringing him figures of six for six for Freiston who went on to beat Spalding 2nd by nine wickets, the same margin as leaders Long Sutton’s victory over Boston 3rd.
