Bourne
caused the upset of the day in the Readers
Lincolnshire ECB Premier League, coming out on top in a high scoring
draw with leaders Woodhall Spa, writes ANN BOULTON.
Having
languished in the lower reaches of the table all season, Bourne hit the day’s
top total with 267 for eight before restricting their hosts to 228 for nine to
take 16 points to Woodhall’s 11.
This
enabled Sleaford to narrow the gap at the top following their victory over
Hartsholme but Jack Luffman’s side still have a 23 point advantage at the top.
Bourne
moved up to eighth and are now only six points off a top six place after the
teams around them all lost.
Louth
slipped to ninth when Lindum took just 34 overs to reach their target while Grimsby went down to Market Deeping and
Skegness lost to Bracebridge Heath.
A
well-crafted innings of 80 from Zeeshan Ahmed, with support from Graham West
(40) took Louth to 206 for six but Will Wright came out with all guns blazing,
hitting 79 off 76 balls while Luke Robinson made 58 off 44 to help the home
side to a six wicket win.
Ross
Carnelly made 80 for Grimsby whose innings ended on 195 for nine
at Outgang Road . Deeping were
then made to fight for their win which came with seven wickets down, Alex
Wheatley hitting 57.
Skegness
set Bracebridge Heath a challenging total of 229 for nine, Peter Houghton with
83 and Jamie Epton 51. But the home side
were in good form, Brett Houston making 82, Nick John 52 and Nathan Poundall
winning the game with a six to take his score to 50.
Tim
McIntosh put in another man of the match performance, taking five wickets and
hitting an unbeaten 104 to help Sleaford to an eight wicket win over bottom
side Hartsholme for whom 16 year old Louis Kimber became the youngest player to
hit a century in the ECB League.
Graeme
Attenborough also made a ton as Haxey opened up the gap over Hartsholme with a
winning draw over Spalding who fell 33 runs short of their opponents’ 224 for
six.
