LINCS LEAGUE CRICKET MEETING @ MARKET RASEN, WEDNESDAY JANUARY 19TH
Attended by The League Chairman Bob Welton , Acting League Sec Glen Sands
Treasurer Brian Simpson Statistician Andy Sharp, the three umpires association reps
and all 31 member clubs.
There were apologies received from Vice Chairman Preston Wallhead and Results Sec Nigel Fisher.
THE MINUTES IF THRE JULY 2010 MEETING had been circulated prior to this meeting and were acknowledged as a true record. PROP : Grimsby Town SECONDED : Maret Rasen
There were no matters arising from the floor.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
The Chairman informed the meeting that the matters he intended to discuss in his report would crop up during the meeting anyway after which he invited the acting Sec for his report.
FIXTURE SECRETARY'S REPORT
The fixture sec reported that owing to Morton sharing their ground with Roses they were still looking to settle on an agreeable date for their Division Four fixture, whilst Caistor 3rds v Hykeham 2nds was still to be given a definate date. There was one other late problem that had cropped up involving Scunthorpe 2nds v Outcasts 2nds which he intended to address with the Scunthorpe rep asap.
Sadly the Results Sec was unable to attend which meant that he and the electronic scoring committee were not able to provide the meeting with the scheduled explanation as to the workings of the proposed system.
Several clubs expressed their disappointment as they were hoping to be presented with what they described as an "idiot's guide" to filling in the electronic score sheets. It was decided that he, along with Graham Hackney, was to be invited to organise a seperate meeting at which any clubs wishing to send a willing to learn representative could attend. Nigel Fisher to be contacted re. organising said meeting.
TREASURER
The treasurer expressed his disappointment that the promised payments from the AGM for 2011 cricket balls + league fees etc were received in only a few instances which meant that plans to pay for the cricket balls before VAT rose to 20% have had to be scrapped. All ball requirements are to be confirmed by the end of the week after which he will sort out with Reeders the full quantity required. A conversation then took place with regard to the payment to the Lincs Cricket Board for affiliation fees. Emails have been received by nearly all Lincs League member clubs requesting the fees for 2011 be made direct to them rather than via the League itself.
After a great deal of debate it was proposed by Statistician Andy Sharp that each member club pay their dues to the Lincs Cricket Board then be aided toward their payment by a reimbursment of per team (or perhaps even an extra ball). This was seconded by Market Rasen CC.
STATISTICIAN'S REPORT
The statistician handed out a list of the best Individual performances for 2010 for members to look through in preperation for a later vote.
ON LINE PRESENTATION
Due to Nigel Fisher not being at the meeting the proposed presentation was unable to take place. Several questions were raised from the floor and it was decided that Nigel, along with Graham Hackney of Cleethorpes would be invited to put together a "user guide" for the new electronic score sheet and explain it to any club's members at a specially arranged gathering. These instructions can hopefully
be included in the handbook.
UMPIRES' REPRESENTATIVES' REPORTS
Lincoln Umpires rep brought to the attention of the meeting an on going lack of communication with Scunthorpe Town who had awarded low marks to two of their members last season. The Scunthorpe rep at the meeting assured them that a letter would be sent to them within the week, something which the league Chairman reinforced quite viamently. The umpires also made a request that their expenses for 2011 in the Lincs League be increased by £2 cross the board. This was proposed by Haxey and seconded by Outcasts after much deliberation.
PRESENTATION OF LEAGUE PENNANTS
At this point the Chairman presented the League Pennents to the Champions of the five leagues:
PREMIER DIVISION : MESSINGHAM
DIVISION ONE : CHERRY WILLINGHAM
DIVISION TWO : MESSINGHAM 2NDS
DIVISION THREE : KEELBY
DIVISION FOUR : OLD LINCOLNIANS
NOMINATIONS
MOST IMPROVED UNDER 21 PLAYER
None of the nominations received were backed by last season's stats so it was agreed that Andy Sharp take away the named players to research their earlier form and make recomendations once obtained.
SCOREBOOK OF THE YEAR
There were two books nominated and the winner for 2010 was that of James Travis of Keelby.
SECRETARY OF THE YEAR
Will be decided at a later date by the committee.
PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON
After a vote made in the room the winner of the performance of the season 2010 went to C Wathakarage who hit 99 for South Kelsey and took 7 for 42 against App Frod 2nds.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The Chairman suggested that he would approach ex Chairman Keith Wadd with a view to him being offered the role of Lincs League President, a suggestion that the meeting acknowledged as a spledid idea.
Mick Barton confirmed that the date for the Presentation evening would be at Blundell Park Grimsby on Thursday March 17th. As yet no speaker had been found nor had the tickets been priced.
