EVENING HIGHLIGHTS

Snaith League Division One
The top of the table clash between Askern and Goole Town went the way of Askern who restricted Goole to 119 for 7 with Mark Spetch hitting 47 and Oliver Sugden 38 before Rhys Gibbon guided Askern to 120 for 6 with a top score of 38 , aided by Josh Gillies who was unbeaten on 26 at the end with only one delivery remaining , taking them top by three points and giving them a six points advantage now over third placed Luddington who were involved in a second successive last over thriller , this time losing to Sykehouse. The Isle side reached 126 for 5 with Darren Clark making 54 anf brother Graham 40 but Jim Davies was the man who guided Sykehouse to victory batting through for 60 not out with Mick Gallagher hitting 37 , Graeme Fletcher taking 3 for 19 for Ludd. Finally Drax Village picked up their first win of the league season when they beat Hensall and in doing so climbed above them in the table. Powell hit 29 for Drax who scored 104 for 7 then skipper Matt Atkinson took an excellent 5 for 14 to restrict Hensall to 93 for 9.

Snaith League Division Two
Things are getting tight in Division Two with the top four teams only seperated by one point now. Hirst Courtney were narrowly beaten by Goole Firemen who set a target of 142 for 8 when batting first thanks to 31 from J Whaley and 24 from Will O'Donnell , Ken Winters picking up three wickets for Hirst who fell just six short despite the best efforts of Phil Alford who scored 76 and Goddard who added 22. Paul Phillips took two crutial wickets for the Firemen who fielded exceptionally well to gain their second victory of the season so far. Pollington also slipped to defeatagainst Airmyn who are now just a point behind them and Hirst in the table , Chris Welburn hitting 52 for Pollington in their total of 111 all out , Steve Fielder taking 4 for 16 and Rob Holah 3 for 3 for Airmyn who then reached 112 for 7 with Sparks scoring 38 and Holah 26. Carlton Towers moved level are level with the men from the Percy Arms following their 36 run victory over Burn , Mark Holmes hitting 74 in Carlton's 150 for 8 before Burn were restricted to 114 for 8 in reply.

Snaith League Division Three
Howden Town won a low scoring thriller at Eggborough where they made 81 then bowled the home side out for 76 whilst new boys Outcasts continued their good league form when they won by 24 runs at Thorne Colliery. Alex Fletcher was their top scorer , making 32 in a total of 114 for 6 with Ian Cockburn taking 3 for 13 and Martin 3 for 21 for Thorne who then replied with 90 for 8 , James Glew hitting 23 whilst Peter Tait took 3 for 13 for the Prirymen.
