BOWLER GRABS 9-10

From Ann Boulton

Boston bowler Paul Deans had his club running to the record books after recording an amazing nine wickets for just 10 runs in his side’s South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One match against Bourne 2nd.
Deans’ haul came off 9.5 overs, with four maidens and gave his side their first victory of the season as well as opening up the gap over their opponents at the bottom of the table.
Billingborough marched on at the top with a convincing victory over Belton Park but Grantham are still in hot pursuit after a five wicket win against Market Deeping. Third placed Moulton Harrox had their game washed out at Lindum Ramblers.
Division Two brought the most exciting game of the day which once again involved Cavaliers. Batting first at Spalding, the Peterborough side finished on 178 for nine, Alex Glover with 60 and Heath Ripley taking five wickets for the home side – who ended 177 for nine.
Leaders Skegness, who have yet to lose a game, beat Welby by three wickets while second placed Sleaford Sunday beat Ropsley. However, the following day, Sleaford lost the opportunity to close the gap on Skegness when they went down heavily to Spalding 2nd, for whom new signing Barry Stanway took eight wickets to push his team up from eighth to third in the table.
Steve Ryder hit his maiden century – and the only ton of the day - for Claypole in their Division Three victory over leaders Spalding 3rd, which allowed North Luffenham to close the gap with a win over Pinchbeck.
