By Glen Sands

SNAITH & DISTRICT LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE
Askern are top of the early tables following their victory against Goole Town in a low scoring game that saw Goole post a total of 98 for 7 thanks chiefly to Louis Sugden who hit 39 and Nathan Shaw who ended 20 not out , Ryan Davies taking 4 for 9 for the home side who then replied with 99 for 5 , Rhys Gibbon scoring 38 and Josh Gillies 27 to guide Askern home whilst Fishlake currentlty stand second having won both of their games so far, the latest coming at the expense of Sykehouse who's return to the top Division has proved quite tough with two sucessive defeats so far , David Johnson hitting 95 not out for Fishlake as they racked up 153 for 1 before reducing Sykehouse to 116 for 5. Burn made their bow in Division One and so nearly managed a winning start when falling 5 runs short at Drax Village who made 126 for 7 before Burn replied with a tantalisingly short 121 for 5

Hensall are two points clear at the top of the Second Division following their second win of the season although it came via a second successive concession by Carlton Towers, this time due to their ground being unavailable. Sturgethorpe climb to second after an emphatic 10 wicket win at Howden Town who were bowled out for 42 by their visitors and finally Goole Firemen picked up their first win of 2010 when beating Hirst Courtney at Goole by 7 wickets , Hirst making 104 for 5 thanks to 36 from Goddard before Whiley ( 39 ) and Blee ( 27 ) helped to guide the Firemen home.
