LADIES IN CHARGE

Ann Boulton informs us there are now three lady umpires in the south of the county.
They are Katherine Coultate, who lives down near the Notts border and has been umpiring many years; Sally Newton, who is from Lincoln; and the latest recruit, Janet Morris, from Boston.
Janet is the wife of the ECB Premier League chairman David, who is also Boston chairman and vice-chairman of the South Lincs & Border League. She has been Boston's scorer for many years.
Janet has umpired three games so far and is due to do a Lincoln League game at Heckington shortly.
In the mid-1980s, when I took the umpires' training course/assessment at Appleby-Frodingham's Brumby Hall cricket pavilion under the expert guidance of ex-Minor Counties official John Harrison, Anna Smith, from Wrawby (then only 19 or so) also passed.
In recent years, Sue Carrington joined the ranks of the Scunthorpe and District Association.
