TONS GALORE ON SUNDAY

There were runs and tons galore in the North Lindsey League games with four centuries in the six games played.

DIVISION ONE
Matthew Fowler took centre stage at Brumby Hall when scoring a magnificent 131 aginst Caistor Cougars as Frod set a huge score of 293 for 8 , Tom Boryszczuk picking up 5 for 59 for thr Cougars who in reply lost early wickets and were bowled out for 136 , Healy top scoring with 36 as Jack Forrester claimed 3 for 19 and leg spinner Jack Dixon 3 for 37 whilst Barton Town 3rds are making a late bid to climb the table after their excellent win over Messingham 3rds at Marsh Lane. Lewis Barnes scored 73 and Gary Bell 62 as Barton made 203 for 3 then Mark Foster took 5 for 18 as Messingham were bowled out for 149 , Tom McDougall hitting 37 of those. Leaders Cleethorpes 5ths were scheduled to travel to Scunthorpe 4ths but were awarded the points due to pitch issues at Heslam Park.

Messingham : 149 all out ( T McDougall 37 ) M Foster 5 for 18
RESULT : BARTON TOWN 3RDS win by 54 runs

SCUNTHORPE TOWN 4THS v CLEETHORPES 5THS Postponed due to ground issues.

RESULT : CLEETHORPES 5THS 3points SCUNTHORPE 4THS - 1 point

DIVISION TWO
Grimsby Town 3rds are now absolutely assured of the title after they beat rivals Haxey 3rds in a real runs fest at Augusta Street. Haxey set a tough target of 248 for 3 with 104 from Rob Young , 77 from Oliver Tonks and 54 from Simon Wild but the in form Harry Warwick guided Grimsby to 250 for 7 with a brilliant 121 not out , ensuring they gain promotion to Division One as Champoins and Hibaldstow 2nds clinched second spot by virtue of their hard fought win against Alkborough who hit 213 for 9 when batting first at Hibaldstow , Craig Ross scoring 77 and Paul Mitchell 50 with Josh Cowling taking 4 for 47 but the match was memorable for the first ever century for Russ Blackburn who guided Hibaldstow to 219 for 4 with 115 not out , aided by Rob Sladen's 34. Wheatley & Leverton moved off the bottom of the table after their big win at Broughton where J Waller was another century maker, hitting 119 as Whetaley amassed 282 for 6 with 88 not out from George Appleyard and it proved too many for Broughton 3rds who managed 182 in reply, Neil Simpson scoring 36 and James Watson 35 for the defeated side.

Broughton : 182 all out ( N Simpson 36 ; J Watson 35 )
RESULT : WHEATLEY & LEVERTON win by 100 runs

GRIMSBY TOWN 3RDS v HAXEY 3RDS
Haxey : 248 for 3 ( R Young 104 ; O Tonks 77 ; S Wild 54 )
Grimsby : 250 for 7 ( H Warwick 121 no )
RESULT : GRIMSBY TOWN 3rds win by 3 wickets

HIBALDSTOW 2NDS v ALKBOROUGH 3RDS
Alk : 213 for 9 ( C Ross 77 ; P Mitchell 50 ) J Cowling 4 for 47
Hibaldstow : 219 for 4 ( R Blackburn 115 no ; R Sladen 34 )
RESULT : HIBALDSTOW 2NDS win by 6 wickets.


DIVISION THREE
Just one game in Division Three and it brought a comfortable win for Upton cum Kexby at Everton 3rds where Upton posted a total of 182 all out thanks chiefly to M Green who hit 64 , Glen Cruckshankpicking up 4 for 42 for the hometeam who were then reduced to 113 for 9 despite the best efforts of the Dobson boys , Peter hitting 36 and younger brother Chris 23.

Upton : 182 all out ( M Green 64 ) G Cruickshank 4 for 42
Everton : 113 for 9 ( P Dobson 36 : C Dobson 23 )
RESULT : UPTON cum KEXBY win by 69 runs
