Broughton Cricket Club held its presentation night on Friday, September 20, when master of ceremonies was chairman Phil Glentworth, assisted by "yours truly" who presented the trophies.
Phil said: "Before we go into our presentation of playing honours, I certainly want to publicly thank all the backroom team, without whom we could not operate. Ladies first - and that means teas, As many of you know we have been superbly assisted by our WAGS and mums this year and they have done an excellent job and we wholeheartedly thank them all.
The chairman went on to thank the dedicated groundstaff for "providing us with a first-class facility" by putting in many hours' work every week, and everyone connected with providing junior cricket at Broughton.
He added: "We can never have enough help and we intend to double our efforts in spreading the workload next season to encourage as many people as possible to lend their support. Even if it is only for a couple of games, it would help tremendously."
He went on to thank the committee for all their efforts, notably Sam and Dave Simpson "for their continuing admin and accounting efforts."
Phil gave a school report on each senior side:
First team - Satisfactory but could achieve their ambitions with more application, especially with the willow (Lincs League div one).
Third team - An enjoyable term but tend to lark about too much in class (North Lindsey, Sundays).
Second team - See me. Appeared to be asent for much of the latter half of term (Lincs League div three).

AND FINALLY...
On behalf of the junior section of Broughton Cricket Club I would like to thank parents for transporting their children to matches. This year I marked a few games for the Under 11s, who had new players who had not even hit a cricket ball making up the teams. It was lovely to see the inspiration that the children had. The improvement they made during the season was great. Talk about keen, they are children who want to play cricket. I am even getting asked now when are we training. They range from 9 upwards. I would like to ask the senior members if you get a chance please go and watch these youngsters and give them some of your time and support. Also a big thank-you to Dave for running this team.
Under 13s were very eager this season and we had plenty of players who were very keen and it was hard to team select. I would like to thank all the players who were rang late when anyone was sick. We played some really good cricket and these lads are the future senior cricket team. We won some games and we had some excellent bowling and batting. It was nice to see the encouragement that players gave each other. I would like to thank all the players who went and played most weeks for the Under 15s.
The Under 15s had a mixed season and was unable to get a full team of their own age group. They were helped out by the under 13s. It was nice to see that some of these players went on to play senior cricket this season. I would like to say a big thank-you to Robbie Ward who came and helped umpire for the under 11s and 13s when he was available and I would like to wish him all the best now that he will be moving on from junior cricket to senior cricket. He has been a very good role model for the younger players. Also I would like to thank everyone for all the help they have given the junior section - be it training, scoring or helping out with transportation. Most of all I would like to thank all players for turning up, win or lose.

"Yours Truly" congratulating Matty Hammond on another impressive season with the bat for the first team. With thanks to Paul Clark for grabbing the camera and doing the honours. Yes, we'd all had a pint or three by this stage (and the rest!)
