AMAZING SMILE NORTH LINDSEY CRICKET LEAGUE JUNE 1 ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

The weather relented to allow the clubs in the Amazing Smile North Lindsey League to take to the field and play some cricket across all three divisions on June 1 and there were some interesting results.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION ONE
Promoted from Division Two last year Alkborough have made a terrific start in the top flight and they won a high scoring affair at Augusta Street where Grimsby Town set them a target of 173 thanks to 74 from Steve Crossley and 58 from Joe Farmery , Paul Mitchell taking 5 for 67 for the visitors who reached 177 for 5 as Craig Ross hit 75 to put his team top of the table. There was a tight finish at Broughton where visiting Haxey scored 118 all out with Josh Savage hitting 47 and Tom Smith 39 , Andy Hillyard picking up 3 for 9 and Russ Blackburn 3 for 21 before Broughton fell six runs short despite 31 from Nick Crawford , the often unheralded Danny Bullock taking a splendid 5 for 22 for the Isle side , aided by Andy Steeper who chipped in with 3 for 35. The other scheduled game between Appleby Frodingham and Scunthorpe Town was due to be played for both league points and Cup qualification but sadly a Yorkshire League fixture meant the Steelmen were short on numbers and therefore Scunthorpe go through to the Semi Finals and pick up three points.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION TWO
Cleethorpes made it three out of three wins when beating Outcasts by 13 runs at Chichester Road , John Mansfield hitting 57 and Richard Woodward 54 in a total of 166 for 8 , Oliver Hoare taking 4 for 25 for the Priorymen who reached 153 for 6 in reply with Jack Lupton making 52 as Andy Severn took 3 for 49 for the unbeaten Meggies. Caistor Cougars had a comfortable victory against an under strength Luddington side who were bowled out for 65 by the Cougars , Arron Curry top scoring with 23 as home skipper Kieran Brooker took 4 for 30 then Gareth Johnson ( 34 ) and Harry Boulton ( 21 not out ) guided their team home and saw them progress into the Semi Finals of the Divisional Cup as well. Blyth CC gained their first win of the season in a high scoring match at Everton , setting a target of 170 thanks to Glyn Coxhill who made 57 and Tolly Dalton ( 30 ) , Glen Cruickshank picking up 5 for 49 then Coxhill took 3 for 21 as Everton were bowled out for 153 , Arron Gillies scoring 55 to keep them in the hunt for some time.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION THREE
Messingham top the table following their second straight win , the latest coming at Normanby Park who made 130 for 7 with Declan Dunning hitting 58 , Danny Rands taking 3 for 7 and Rands then helped his team to 131 for 4 when making 42 along with Tom McDougall who finished on 36 not out although Chris White had a day to remember when picking up all four wickets for 34.  Batting performance of the day came from Misterton skipper Darren Emmingham who hit 102 in a total of 169 all out at Bawtry CC , S Harrison taking 3 for 27 for the home side who were then bowled out for 54 as Mark Boscolo took 5 for 16 and Green 3 for 31 , this being Misterton's first win of the season.
