PLEASE BECOME AN UMPIRE AND HELP LINCOLNSHIRE CRICKET

Several posts have already appeared on Lincs Cricket Latest appealing for people to come forward and train as umpires. The word "crisis" has been used - not by me - in relation to the declining number of umpires across the county.
Lincolnshire League clubs have been warned that many matches face being without even a single umpire in 2014, with vast numbers having only one. For many years, certainly in the Lincs League, we've become accustomed to having two appointed to the majority of matches.
The only answer is to recruit more to the ranks.
The Scunthorpe and District Umpires' Association will be holding a training course on Monday nights from early October at Brumby Hall Cricket Pavilion, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe, by kind permission of Appleby-Frodingham Cricket Club. If you are interested, please email scoopfisher@aol.com and put your name down.
People reading this in other parts of the county should contact their local association.
