CLEETHORPES DEFEAT SOUTH KELSEY IN AMAZING SMILES DIV 3 FINAL

BY GLEN SANDS

Cleethorpes lifted the Amazing Smile North Lindsey Cricket League Third Division Knockout Cup, and collected a cheque for £50, when beating South Kelsey at Messingham by 48 runs on Sunday, September 1.
The Meggies posted a total of 226 for 6, thanks in the main to Ian Hallam who struck 71 before bowling Kelsey out for 178.
At the half way stage of the second innings Kelsey were right on track then Andy Fisher was out for 62 and both Callum Carter and Andy Severn picked up three wickets for Cleethorpes.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION ONE
Appleby-Frodingham hit an incredible 347 for 8 against Broughton with 122 from Tom Brookes, 49 from Jack Forrester and 46 from Matt Fowler. They then bowled their opponents out for 142, Neil Simpson hitting 37 and Danny Dewfall 36 as Sarah Sunduram picked up 3 for 19. That win, coupled with the news that Grimsby Town were unable to field a team to play at Hibaldstow, means Frod are now one win away from winning the title.

In the other Division One fixture Caistor Cougars saw off Scunthorpe Town by 30 runs to climb out of the bottom two, Harry Boulton making 98 and Harry Capstick 48 not out in the Cougars total of 212 for 6. Capstick then took 5 for 40 as Scunthorpe were restricted to 182 in reply.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION TWO
The battle for promotion is going to go to the wire in Division Two as no less than four clubs could still win it. Alkborough are in pole position following their narrow win over Barton Academy Vikings. Lee Brocklebank top scored  with 46 for Alkborough as Alan Sanderson took 4 for 22 and Liam Parker and Tom Palin picked up three wickets apiece. Then Andy Genney hit 40 not out for the Vikings who were bowled out for 96, Liam Hebblewhite finishing with 4 for 21. Luddington - second in the table and yet to meet Alkborough - comfortably beat Messingham by nine wickets, bowling them out for 90, thanks to Graham Clark who took 5 for 37. Young star Ben Wicks scored a superb 59 not out and Geoff Smith 22 to guide the Isle side to victory.

The Isle of Axholme derby at Haxey saw the hosts beat neighbours Outcasts to move level in the table with them on what proved to be a spinners' wicket. Haxey were bowled out for 123 with brothers Oliver and Ethan Tonks scoring 32 and 26 respectively, Scott Buttrick picking up an outstanding 8 for 31. Then Jamie Belton hit 57 for the Priorymen only for them to be bowled out for 104, Mark Atkins taking 5 for 16 from 16.3 overs.
