BILLINGBOROUGH ARE SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE AND BORDER CHAMPS

September 7 round-up
BY ANN BOULTON

Billingborough clinched the South Lincolnshire & Border League championship with two games still to go after beating Woodhall Spa 2nd
But three teams continue to contest the runners-up spot – Bourne 2nd, Stamford Town and Boston.
Bourne beat Boston to stay second after David Christmas hit 63 runs and took five wickets while Stamford defeated fifth placed Grantham by five wickets.
Moulton Harrox moved out of the bottom two following their victory over Belton Park who are now in the relegation zone.
Rob Bee hit the Premier Division’s highest total with 80, Oliver Smith made 72 not out for Lindum Ramblers and Andrew Hulme scored an unbeaten 71 for Stamford.
In Division One, Long Sutton need just five points to clinch top place while Stamford Town 2nd are guaranteed at least second place.  Long Sutton beat former title contenders Baston while Stamford got the better of Blankney by just two wickets in a low scoring game.
Steve Elleray hit the only century in this division, making 101 of Boston 2nd’s 261 for eight.  Market Deeping 2nd then reached 201 for seven, Callum Moses taking six of the wickets.
The day’s top scorer was Chris Dobbie who hit 138 for Claypole in Division Two.  But this wasn’t enough to stop Long Sutton 2nd claiming a four wicket win and the Division Two title.
Cavaliers lost their chance to secure second place when they went down to Pinchbeck by two wickets and must now look to gain 13 points from their final match to fight off the challenge of Lindum 3rd who have two games in hand.
Stewart Kirtley also topped 100 with an unbeaten 114 in Frieston’s victory over Welby 2nd while Phillip Kimber scored 121 for Lindum 3rd who went down to Spalding 3rd by 23 runs in a high scoring game in which Chris Klompas hit 93 for Spalding.
