HAXEY AND HARTSHOLME DOWN - BILLINGBOROUGH AND MARKET RASEN UP
For the
first time in eight seasons, two teams will be promoted to the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League, writes Ann Boulton.
Market Rasen, winners of the Lincolnshire County Cricket
League, will join South Lincolnshire & Border League champions
Billingborough in the top flight after both teams met the criteria for
membership so achieved automatic promotion.
As a result, Hartsholme and Haxey will leave and
return to the Lincolnshire League.
At the Premier League AGM, chairman Colin White congratulated both teams
on their success and thanked the demoted teams for their contributions to the
league and to an exciting season which saw Sleaford snatch the championship on
the final day.
He told league clubs that the league is now a member of the Lincolnshire
Cricket Network, set up as
part of the recently introduced ECB Memorandum of Understanding that requires
County Cricket Boards, County Cricket Clubs and ECB Premier Leagues to work
closely together for the good of cricket in the county they represent.
The Network
comprises members of each of these cricket organisations who will look at joint
opportunities, initiatives and improvements across the whole of the Lincolnshire cricket community.
In a change to the rules, clubs voted to introduce 30 yard circles next
season with four fielders, the wicketkeeper and the bowler inside the circle at
all times.
THE LINCOLNSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE HOLDS ITS AGM TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24, IN MARKET RASEN (7.30PM).
