The Lincs League Records Book has been re-written in 2010, as weekend after weekend of good weather saw very few games cancelled. Bat certainly won over ball, with the Premier Division leading the way.
Premier Division
Pride of place must go to Sajin Wijerathne of Caistor Town who broke Asif Mohammed's 16 year old record for most runs in a season, overhaulling Asif's 1206 total in the final game , to finish with an aggregate of 1238 runs, at the fantastic average of 112.55.
The record stands for the 3rd, 5th, 9th & 10th wicket were demolished. Andy Cook & Nick White of Messingham took the 3rd Wicket record up to 211 from 203, whilst Rob Young & Ollie Tonks of Haxey improved the 39 year old 5th wicket stand of 166 up to 246. The 9th wicket stand was upped to 81 by Billy Wright & Will Yates of Barton, and Barton also took the 10th wicket record, as Alex Shreeve & Nathan Jones made 71 against Scunthorpe Town.
Messingham's Wicket-Keeper Callum Fletcher received many plaudits in 2010 and he managed to take Matt Allison's record of 35 dismissals, with 25 catches & 12 stumpings for a total of 37.
Division 1
Just one record was broken in Division 1 as Alford's Wayne Garlick & Andrew White piled on 266 for the first wicket against Outcasts to overtake Wayne Reed and Matt Hammond's 235.
Division 3
A batting and a bowling record in Division 3. The 2nd Wicket record was upped to 227 by Hibaldstow's Jon Taylor & Mark Nicholson, in their match at Cherry Willingham, at the expense of Barton's Will Yates & Paul Goodhand's 195 from 1994. Hibaldstow also took the 5-for bowling record as Mel Oades took 5-2 versus Cherry Willingham, to break the 30 year old previous best of 5-3.
Finally, nothing in Division 4 in 2010 but there might be a change to the 10th Wicket record of 40, currently held by Willie McVey and and James Fussey. It has been suggested that this was beaten some 10 years ago in a match involving Littlefields 2nds.
A further update on this one shortly .............
