LEARN FROM GREAT CHARACTER OF CRICKET

By Martin Deans, Lincolnshire Groundsmen

Through your website please inform all past, present and future groundsmen - or those involved in some way with the ground work at their clubs - that the autumn and winter programme for our association will begin on 7th of October at 6pm at the Lincoln Lindum ground, Lincoln, were we shall be holding an outside workshop looking at all aspects of the autumn and winter regime on the cricket square.
This will be conducted by Len Smith, the former Glamorgan head groundsman at Sophia Gardens (now known as the Swalec Stadium). Len has kindly agreed to come up from his Welsh base and pass on his wealth of knowledge from some 30 years on the frontline, so to speak, of cricket groundsmanship. He has been involved in every aspect of the game from recreational to the international stage and we are fortunate to have secured his services for the meeting.
Len is currently the I.O.G/E.C.B regional advisor for the Wales and south west region and after the outdoor session he has kindly agreed to take questions indoors on his past and present careers.
So please, if you have any interest in the "grounds industry" please come along and enjoy an evening with one of the game's great characters. The admission is £5, which gives access to the season's other speakers which include another Test match groundsman and the tour of a county and Tmatch venue.
Further details can be obtained through Martin Deans - email martindeans@btinternet.com or call 07971087891.
