The final
weekend of the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League weekend saw Bourne
crowned champions – and Tim McIntosh break two records.
And Market
Rasen finished the season on a high note, bowling Grimsby
Sleaford’s former
New Zealand
This record
was set in 2001, coincidentally by Mohammed Haroon and John McDougall playing
for Sleaford’s opponents, Market Deeping.
Playing at
Deeping, Sleaford finished on 310 for five, before David Sergeant became the
third centurion of the match with 129 off 133 balls as the home side’s reply
ended on 236.
The top of
the table clash between Bourne and Lindum proved to be as tense and hard fought
as predicted. Having won the toss and
elected to bowl, Lindum needed to take all 10 wickets to be in with a chance of
claiming the title.
The first
fell with just seven on the board and the second on 48 but a stand of 92
between Conrad Louth, who hit a painstaking 49, and Pete Morgan (45) put paid
to Lindum’s hopes, the visitors finishing on 178 for five.

and Will Taylor set off in pursuit at T20 pace, Wright hitting 36 off 30 balls
before falling to Jack Berry with the score on 72. Taylor
In addition
to their runners-up trophy, Lindum can celebrate two more awards. Jonathan Miller’s 62 wickets make him the
season’s top wicket taker while Richard Bishop is the winning wicketkeeper with
35 dismissals.
Bourne’s
victory gave them the title by eight points with Bracebridge Heath finishing
third after passing Spalding’s low score of 112 for the loss of one wicket,
Brett McGlade claiming five victims and Paul Cook hitting an unbeaaten 68.
Sleaford
finished fourth and Woodhall Spa fifth, Malinga Bandara once more the man of
the match with five wickets and 52 runs.
Billingborough made a respectable 206, Chris Morris with 77, but Bandara
and Sam Evison with 54 helped Woodhall to a seven wicket win.
After a
poor start to the season, Skegness finished a creditable sixth, skipper Norman
Brackley ending the season with an innings of 147 in his side’s 276 for six
against Louth who made 227 for three, John Medler hitting 81, Laurence Scott 65
and Tom Corden an unbeaten 57.
