VERY ENJOYABLE 50th ANNIVERSARY DINNER OF THE LINCOLNSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE

Last night saw a very enjoyable 50 Years Anniversary Celebration staged by the Lincolnshire County Cricket League (founded 1963 - 50th season). It was held last night (Friday, April 5) at the impressive Hemswell Court venue, not far from Caenby Corner.
League chairman Bob Welton looked back on the history of the league and named some of the first class players who have played in the competition. He also read an extract from the 1966 Handbook which showed just how much cricket has changed down the decades. How many players now check the nails in their boots and put linseed oil on their bats?
Bob then introduced Paul Smith, the former Warwickshire all-rounder, who gave a fascinating insight into his time in the first class game - on and off the field. He ended by answering a number of questions put by the audience. Many of us also snapped up autographed copies of his book Wasted?
We're kicking off our coverage in a minute with some "round the table" pictures and will follow that up later with pix of the presentations.
