In a change of date from the published programme, the next Lincolnshire Cricket Lovers’ Society evening takes place on Wednesday, 16 February at Cleethorpes Cricket Club.
Confessions of a Cricketing Parson is the title of the talk by Rev Canon Alan Haydock whose has a reputation for having his audiences “rolling in the aisles”.
A member of the committee of Nottinghamshire CCC – whose captain Chris Read has been heard to recommend that listeners fasten their seat belts - Canon Haydock is also an honorary Canon of Southwark Minster and a supporter of both of Nottingham’s football league clubs.
He speaks very humorously about his role on the Nottinghamshire committee and his dealings with some of the famous personalities within the club, including Derek Randall.
Over the past 21 years, Canon Haydock has donated his speaking fees to many worthy causes and so far has raised more than £50,000.
The evening begins at 7.30pm and is free for members and £5 for guests.
