Lincolnshire County
Cricket League general secretary Andrew Richley says the full-blown UKBA
requirements are only incumbent on a club when they are employing (defined as
paying) a player who has played at least 5 first class matches in the last two
years, and who is earning £800 pcm whilst playing and / or coaching in the UK.
The next Lincolnshire County Cricket League meeting will be
on Wednesday, 18th April at Market Rasen CC's Rase Park clubhouse (7.30pm ). All clubs should attend.
Clubs may be interested to know that some Leagues have a Total Ban on overseas players . Reasons : To keep money within clubs
ReplyDeleteTo increase opportunity for home grown players
To make Leagues more even and not be dominated by the club(s)who pay most
To encourage clubs to use the expenditure to improve playing surfaces / facilities rather than relying on Grant handouts
VERY COMMENDABLE - worth looking into perhaps look forward to hearing others points of view
very commendable indeed, just a reminder that it was nominated 2 years ago and voted 20 odd to 2 in favour in keeping
ReplyDeleteThere are to many clubs reliant on pro's for it to change. When was the last time a club won the lincs prem without a pro ?
ReplyDeleteHaxey last year
ReplyDeleteWell done Haxey , if only every club followed your lead we would probably see better local player development(no reliance on the overseas/paid player)and a more balanced competition where the cheque book doesn't rule .
ReplyDeleteAlmost certain Haxey had at least 3 paid players last year as they were not impressed with there previous overseas player.
ReplyDeleteYes danny bullock , damen hughes and jeremy evans
DeleteI'm sure Jeremy Evans would be tickled pink to think that anyone would be prepared to pay him to play cricket . Sorry Jeremy couldn't resist a cheeky reply.
DeleteNo disrespect to the guys mentioned a I do not know them but those are not the names I had in mind
ReplyDeleteAnd which players did u have in mind ?
DeleteAttenborough, Leach and Bisby wouldnt be suprised if coy also
ReplyDeleteNot all players are motivated by money dont know where you get your poor information from
Deletemust be poor information or someone at the club who knows nothing and assumes they get paid. If so they shouldn't discuss this in public.
