HOT CURRY'S EIGHT WICKETS IN NIGHT MATCH

LUDDINGTON v NORMANBY PARK
By Glen Sands

Luddington bowler Arron Curry took an exceptional eight wickets for just five runs against Normanby Park as the Isle side recorded their first win in the Broughton Evening League on Wednesday May 30th , earning him his best ever figures since he began playing for the club.
Normanby won the toss and invited Ludd to bat first on a cloudy evening which saw them chose to play fourteen overs rather than the statutory sixteen but openers Jamie Belton and Scott Buttrick made a competent start , running crisply between the wickets and punishing any slack deliveries. They had put together a stand of 66 when Buttrick was out , caught by Alex Czbanuk off Declan Dunning for 23. Home skipper Andy Lawson joined Belton and scored quickly against a relatively young Normanby attack but he was to be the next to fall when the visitors elder statesman Paul Mitchell bowled him for 18 with the total on102. Belton retired having reached 53 as per league rules which saw Russell Fletcher head out to the middle only to be out to a quite stunning catch by bowler Jack Cowling for just a single , the youngster diving full length to hold a return drive from the left hander. Peter Tait and Graeme Fletcher were there at the end on four and one respectively as Luddington finished on 112 for 3 , with Cowling ( 1 for 32 ) Declan Dunnung ( 1 for 13 ) and Paul Mitchell ( 1 for 13 ) sharing the three wickets that fell.
Mitchell and debutant Colin Harvey opened for Normanby and made a good fist of it , Mitchell in particular striking the ball well as he hit the first 22 runs of the innings , all off the bowling of Liam McAnaney ! However just as he appeared set to prssurise the Ludd attack further he was bowled by Graeme Fletcher who was bowling a quick and accurate spell , which brought Alex Czbanuk to the crease to join Harvey. They took the total from 37 to 59 when the former was caught by Scott Buttrick off Jason Whiteley for five but it was the introduction of slow bowler Arron Curry that swung the game in Ludd's favour. He bowled opener Harvey for 25 from his very first delivery and by the time the over was finished he had taken no less than three further wickets , bowling Andy McDaid for nought then having Andy Dawson caught by Jamie Belton for one followed by Will Wenban who was caught by Anthony Fitzgerald for nought ! The whole momentum of the match had swung in favour of the Isle side and it was that man Curry who went on to finish matters in his second over as he took another four wickets to repeat his first over heroics. The first delivery of his second over saw him trap Will Wenban LBW for one , followed instantly by the bowling of Jack Cowling to take his tally to six from ten balls bowled !! After conceding a single he then bowled Zack Meadows for six and he brought the match to an end when bowling Declan Dunning for two to make it EIGHT wickets from fifteen deliveries to finish with the most remarkable figures of  8 for 5 !
What a tremendous achievement this was by the young spin king who completely turned the game on its head.
But the good news for Normanby is that master Curry will not be available when the teams meet on Sunday in the North Lindsey League. To their credit the young Normanby side bowled and fielded well but simply had no answer to Ludd's man of the match.  The win means Luddington will travel to Hibaldstow next Wednesday in good heart whilst Normanby will look to pick up their first win when entertaining Scunthorpe Scorpions as the league moves into week three.

LEADERS SKEGNESS TAKE ON CHALLENGERS HAXEY

READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER LEAGUE
By Ann Boulton

Richmond Drive is the venue for the weekend’s big game in the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.
First will play third when leaders Skegness take on challengers Haxey who lost the top slot to their opponents last weekend.  The game brings together the league’s top run scorer – seasider Peter Houghton with 250 – and leading wicket taker Paul Bell who has snared 16 victims for Haxey.
At Woodhall Spa, the home team know that a win over Bourne could push them to the top of the table if Skegness should slip up against the league newcomers.
Bracebridge Heath, in fourth, need to continue picking up points if they are to defend the championship and this weekend they host Sleaford who are in ninth place.
Bottom teams Boston and Hartsholme will be looking for their first victories when they entertain Lindum and Louth respectively.  Louth will be buoyed up by last week’s success against Haxey but Lindum, who lie just above the bottom two, are also looking for their first win.
Meanwhile, just four points separate Grimsby and Market Deeping in mid-table, the two meeting at Outgang Road where the good weather could lead to a high scoring match.
Monday sees the semi-finals and final of the league’s Winkworth Cup, the winner going through to the ECB Cockspur 20/20 Cup area final at Skegness on August 5.
First up in the semi-finals at Sleaford CC are Bourne and Louth at 10.30am followed by Sleaford v Bracebridge Heath at 1.30pm with the final taking place at 4.30pm.
After the weather-affected first round matches, the league is hoping for a full day’s cricket to produce a winner to represent Lincolnshire in the Cockspur Cup.

Saturday fixtures – 12.30 start
Boston v Lindum
Bracebridge Heath v Sleaford
Hartsholme v Louth
Market Deeping v Grimsby
Skegness v Haxey

CLEETHORPES PREVIEW AND REVIEW

By Graham Hackney

Cleethorpes return to Barnsley this Saturday eager to revenge their heavy 146-run Yorkshire league cup defeat a fortnight ago. Having slipped to fifth in the table, James Osmond’s side need a return to form to keep pace with the league leaders. They then face Doncaster at home on Bank Holiday Monday (12 Noon Start). Cleethorpes 2nds also have a double header this weekend entertaining Broughton at Chichester Road this Saturday before travelling to Messingham on Monday. Cleethorpes 3rds make a welcome return to league action with a trip to Louth 2nds this Saturday while the 4th X1 travel to Haxey 2nds. Cleethorpes North Lindsey X1 will look to continue their bright start to the season as they travel to Barton on Sunday.

Cleethorpes 1st X1's poor run of form continued last Saturday when they went down by seven-wickets to table toppers Harrogate at Chichester Road. After being put in in green conditions, Cleethorpes recovered from a poor start to post a challenging 221-7 in their 55 overs. They were indebted to Alex Osmond who made a welcome return to form with a forceful 74 in 106 balls including ten fours and a six. He added 56 for the third wicket with Rory Osmond (36) before the latter was needlessly run out when well set. Paul Sunley added 21 while an unbroken eighth wicket stand of 43 between Skipper James Osmond (27no) and Harry Clewett (19no) took Cleethorpes to their final total. In reply, Harrogate’s openers got their side off to a fine start seeing off the threat of Cleethorpes seamers Graham Hume and Andy Ellis and added 66 before Alex Osmond made the first breakthrough. However a second wicket stand of 104 would break the back of the run chase with Cleethorpes losing the services of Osmond through injury just as the run rate was starting to increase. Harrogate reached their target with two overs to spare despite Clewett and Hume chipping in with late wickets as Cleethorpes slip to fifth in the Yorkshire league table.
Cleethorpes 2nd X1 crashed out of the George Marshall Trophy after a fantastic burst from Nettleham overseas player blew away their lower order as they attempted to chase down 232 last Saturday. Having restricted Nettleham to 169-7, late runs down the order set Cleethorpes a total far higher than expected as they closed on 231-7 in their 45 overs. John Zielinski proved the most successful Cleethorpes bowler with 3/55 in nine overs with Callum Robinson picking up 2/42 in 9. Spinner Indy Hayre and Stuart Harvey both picked up wickets as did Joe Farmery. Despite slipping to 52-3, a fantastic fourth wicket stand of 136 between Hayre and Chinese star Shu Yao looked to have Cleethorpes coasting. Having completed a brilliant hundred with a towering six, Hayre departed to following ball attempting another maximum, and this saw Cleethorpes lose their final six wickets for 39 runs. Ban Marris hit a promising 24 at the top of the order but Shu stood firm to complete a fine half century but was last man out lbw when clearly getting an inside edge with Cleethorpes 4 runs short of their target.
Cleethorpes 3rds completed a routine 72-run win at Alkborough 2nds in the Bob Welton Cup. Ian Mansfield was the mainstay of Cleethorpes’ 190-7 in 45 overs hitting a superb 74. He received good support from brother David who hit 37 while Richard Woodward (25) and Simon Taylor (24) made useful contributions down the order.Alkborough were never in conditions after Woodward’s opening spell of 2/14 in 5 while Dean Cressey ran through the middle order with 4/17 in five overs. Young spinner Ed Lumby (2/25) mopped up the tail as Alkborough were finally bowled out for 118 in the 33rd over as Cleethorpes progress.
Both Cleethorpes' Sunday teams were in action last weekend. The North Lindsey X1 had an easy 48-run win at Misterton 2nds in the league cup. Half centuries from Ryan Harrison (51) and Matty Owen (53no) propelled Cleethorpes to 219-7 in their 40 overs with Ben Marris hitting 35 and Richard Woodward 23. Young off spinner Tom Morley, making his senior debut ripped through the Misterton middle order with 4/59 in 10 overs after Fred Lumby had made the initial breakthrough. Lucy Rollinson then took an excellent 3/30 on debut before Lewis Markham (2/45 in 9.5) wrapped up a good days work.
Cleethorpes Academy also ran out easy winners as they thrashed Brocklesby Park by 180 runs at Chichester Road on Sunday. They set their opponents a formidable target after hitting 237-6 in their 40 overs. Shu Yao again starred for the Academy with a brisk 77 with John Mansfield (62) making a return to form. Harry Clewett hit 27 before Cleethorpes’ bowlers demolished Brocklesby’s batting order. An opening salvo of 3/17 in 7 from Reece Holberry set the tone while Ian Mansfield picked up 3/2 in five overs. Further wickets for Vivek Babu, Henry Tasker, Ed Lumby and David Mansfield saw Brocklesby bowled out for a paltry 57 inside 31 overs.

EVERTON 3rds v LUDDINGTON - NORTH LINDSEY DIV 3 KNOCKOUT CUP

Luddington knocked out the Division Three Cup holders in what was a fantastic match played in a good spirit by both sides, WRITES GLEN SANDS.
Everton won the toss and chose to bat first but quickly lost Ed Campbell , trapped LBW by Matthew Mellers for just a single with the total on nine after which fellow opener Dn Brighton and Steve Johnson took the score past the half century mark with some excellent shots. That partnership was ended when Johnson was run out for eleven which brought Bobby Johnson to the crease who made a quickfire 19 before he was well caught by Darren Clark off Arron Curry with the overall total on 88. Brighton continued to bat well as the sun beat down and his skipper Sean Leach was with him as the total passed the three figure mark. It stood at 110 when Leach was bowled by Matt Mellers for six but there was no respite for the Luddington bowlers as Robert Hunter-Shaw strode to the middle and continued the quickening run rate. Brighton brought up his half century then with the score on 151 Hunter-Shaw was trapped LBW by the delighted Darren Clark who was given a rare opportunity to bowl his spin. By now Brighton was finding it tough as the hot weather took it's toll and he was brilliantly run out by a direct hit on the stumps by Curry having scored an exceptional 85. Ryan Garner became Clark's second victim when he had made just three and Glen Cruickshank was eighth man out for seven when bowled by Jamie Arrowsmith with the total on 189. Last man out was Alan Cruickshank , run out for just a single from the penultimate delivery of the innings , leaving Everton on 190 , a total that Luddington were relatively pleased with given their indifferent fielding display and the short boundary which they felt they could put to good use. Matthew Mellers took 2 for 46 from his 10 overs and Darren Clark an impressive 2 for 21 to enhance his future hopes of becoming an all rounder.
Clark's batting prowess has never been in doubt and he showed his class along with young talent Joe Woolhouse as they put on 79 for the first wicket to set Ludd up for a successful run chase. They were helped when Everton's usually reliable opener Glen Cruickshank had to come off after just one over and with spin bowler Matt Gorman and Robert Hunter-Shaw bowling quite well the Isle sides openers had to be at their best to keep the scoeboard ticking. As the heat began to take it's toll on the fielding side Clark and Woolhouse upped their game , bringing up a half century opening stand before Woolhouse , having struck a fabulous six into the nearby bowling green , was caught by Steve Johnson for a well constructed 29. Danny Taylor joined Clark at the crease and stated his intentions with a clubbing boundary from his first delivery.. Clark was just one shy of a deserved half century when he edged a catch to Ryan Garner off Matt Gorman with the total on 97 which brought vice captain Andy Lawson to the middle. His first delivery was duelly deposited out of the ground into a nearby field as Ludd began to push the scoring rate on , then came a near defining moment when Taylor was very ulucky to be given out caught by wicket keeper Garner off home skipper Sean Leach off what appeared to be an above waist high no ball. Four balls later and Andy Lawson was back in the pavilion having been well caught by Bobby Johnson for a rapid 24 which brought Everton right back into contention and saw them visibly lifted. Ludd skipper Gareth Parkin was hampered by a troublesome hamstring and made just four before being caught by that man Bobby Johnson , this time off Dan Brighton's bowling and at 142 for 5 their target of 191 to win appeared a long way off. However veteran wicket keeper Steve Proctor and Jamie Arrowsmith began to put together an exceptional stand with some outstanding shots. Proctor blasted five boundaries whilst Arrowsmith hit three along with two searing maximums to take Ludd to within seven of victory but to their credit Everton refused to lie down and struck back when Hunter-Shaw bowled Proctor who had made 23. Andy Clark then joined the impressive Arrowsmith who blasted the winning runs high over mid off to take his personal total to 33 not out and guide the Isle side into the Semi Finals where they will meet Broughton 4ths in July.
So it was Luddington who squeeed home in what was a terrific match that was a credit to all who played in it. Everton must wait for a couple of weeks before returning to action but a cock a hoop Luddington will travel to Normanby Park in great form on Sunday where they will look to continue their 1005 start to the season

May 26 - round-up by Ann Boulton

Skegness and Woodhall Spa leapfrogged over Haxey at the top of the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League after the leaders went down to a seven wicket defeat.
And Hartsholme were consigned to joint last place in the table after 18 year old Harry Warwick scored his maiden ECB Premier League century to help Grimsby to 20 points.
Batting first at Louth, Haxey fell victim to Louth skipper Andy Carrington who took six wickets then saw his team reach their target of 164 – of which Graeme Attenborough hit 84 -  for the loss of only three wickets, Arran Brindle returning to the side to score 41 and Jason Collinson making 62.
Skegness also looked in danger at 90 for six, chasing Lindum’s total of 165 but Tony Santini and Paul Butler dug in for an unbeaten stand and with the scores level, Santini hit the winning four to take his individual total to 52 not out.
Woodhall kept up their challenge, finishing on 248 for eight at London Road, thanks to the day’s second century from Ricky Lovelace who made 106 and Ben O’Brien who hit 58.  Sleaford were then bowled out for 124 to leave the visitors just three points behind their seasider rivals.

Bourne now share fifth place with Grimsby after coming out on the right side of a draw in their local derby against Market Deeping.
Playing at Abbey Lawn, Bourne hit the day’s top team total of 263 for eight, Conrad Louth with 87 and Ben Stroud 51.  But Deeping hung on to pick up 10 points, Josh Bowers making 75 as the innings finished on 207 for nine, Robbie Gow Kleinschmidt taking five wickets for Bourne.

OUTCASTS v LOUTH 2nds - BY GLEN SANDS

Match kindly sponsored for Outcasts by Toby Produce Local Potato Merchants, to whom the club expresses its thanks

Outcasts bowed out of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League's George Marshall Cup at the first round stage when being beaten by Louth 2nds in a high scoring encounter at Hirsts Priory on what was a scorching day.
Home skipper Russell Fletcher won the toss and chose to bat first with youngsters Oiver Coulman and Darren Clark taking to the middle. They put on 20 for the first wicket before Coulman was bowled by Steve Gale for 12 from a delivery that kept a little low but that brought Scott Buttrick to the crease and along with the classy Clark they took the total past three figures with an array of terrific shots. Clark in particular was looking in sumtuous form , bringing up his half century before slow bowler Owen Roberts tempted him into a shot that spiralled high in the air for a return catch leaving the Priorymen on 101 for 2. Richard Wroot was next to go , caught by Steve Wright off Zain Siddiqui for ine then Buttrick and Andy Lawson put together a stand of 43 with some sensible batting before Lawson was very well caught in the deep by John Medler off Stuart Barker for a well constructed 27. Buttrick fell two runs short o a deserved half century when being bowled by Siddiqui and Graham Clark was soon to be the sixth man out when caught by Mark Duell off Barker without troubling the scorers. Matthew Teal madwe a quickfire 11 before being superbly run out by Henry Tye with a direct strike on the stum and it was left to skipper Russ Fletcher and Jason Whiteley to add seven apiece as Outcasts finished their allotted 45 overs on 189 for 7 , perhaps a dozen or so short of what they would have liked to achieve.
Opening bowlers Jonathan Wroot and Matthew Teal began well when Louth started their reply , keeping the run rate relatively low before Wroot had Steve Wright trapped LBW for 13 with the total on 16. Zain Siddiqui joined John Medler and steadily they built the Louth innings with some solid batting , pouncing on any loose deliveries which were in truth very rare. Wroot finished his nine over spell with figures of 1 for 33 and Teal no wicket for 30 then Jason Whiteley and Tom Sharpe took over and they too bowled quite economically. Whiteley bowled Medler for 28 with the overall total on 84 then he took an excellent catch to send Mark Duell back to the pavilion for nine , earning Sharpe his first wicket of the match. Henry Tye then joined Saddiqui at the crease and they took the total to 130 before Tye was caught and bowled by Whiteley for six which left the outcome on a knife edge. Siddiqui was batting splendidly and had reached his half century when Whiteley and Sharpe came to the end of their nine overs , leaving Scott Buttrick and Graham Clark to finish off the bowling for the home side. Siddiqui then played what was probably his one false shot of the match to be bowled by Clark for a terrific 80 but there was to be no more wickets as Stuart Barker ( 31 not out ) and skipper Mike Searle ( 13 not out ) guided Louth home with just seven deliveries to spare , setting up a home tie against Keelby or Haxey2nds on June 23rd.
So Outcasts once again came out on the wrong end of a thriller , this being the third game in a row when they suffered in the dying embers of the game and they will look to rectify things in their next match which sees them make the long trip to Honcastle on Saturday

MEGGIES BOW OUT OF CUP

CharlieTomlinson provided some excellent support bowling.

BY GRAHAM HACKNEY

Cleethorpes completed a poor weekend with a dismal batting performance to bow out of the Yorkshire league cup in the first round at Barnsley on Sunday. Following Saturday’s defeat at Rotherham that saw them lose their unbeaten tag, Cleethorpes travelled to Barnsley missing vital members of their bowling attack. With Andy Ellis and Harry Clewett both unavailable, Cleethorpes bowled first after Barnsley won the toss. Forced to open with spinner Alex Osmond, who partnered overseas Graham Hume, the pair kept the scoring under control before both picked up wickets in successive overs. Hume snapped up the dangerous Widdup who mistimed a pull to Airey at mid-on while Charlie Tomlinson took a stunning diving catch at cover to remove Wilson to give Osmond his first wicket. Barnsley recovered as Ex-meggie Jon Trower and Wilson added 68 for the third wicket before James Osmond, coming on as first change forced Trower to miscue to point. When Paul Sunley fell in similar vain, Barnsley had slipped to 97-4 in the 28th over. Wilson progressed to a patient 50 in 100 balls but fell trying to up the tempo as James Osmond rotated his part-time attack. Forced to get 20 overs from Tomlinson, Sunley and Lumby, the bowlers rewarded their captains faith holding Barnsley to a combined 78 runs as they eventually closed on 192-8 in their 50 overs. Alex Osmond finished with 3/32 in his ten overs while Hume bowled well for 2/38 in ten.
Cleethorpes’ reply would be short lived as Yorkshire quickie Oliver Hannon-Dalby removed Tomlinson lbw first ball while Rory Osmond was adjudged to have edged behind for 11 despite onlookers believing the ball had actually knicked the off stump. Stuart Airey was bowled by West Indian paceman Ryan Hercules before young fast bowlers Whiles and Firn tucked into the middle order. Bill Kirby had been unable to bat due to back trouble picked up in the field as Harrison, Mansfield and Lumby all added to Cleethorpes total of five ducks. Only Alex Osmond with 16 showed any composure in the face of Barnsley’s attack as Cleethorpes succumbed to 46 all out. Out of both cup competitions early this season, James Osmond’s side must now concentrate on the league beginning this Saturday when second placed Cleethorpes face league leaders Harrogate at Chichester Road.

WE WILL BE ADDING MORE  PIX FROM ACKERS LATER TO THIS REPORT, PLUS SOME MORE FROM THE ROTHERHAM MATCH. WE ARE HAVING ONE OR TWO UNUSUAL TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH IMAGES THIS MORNING.

CLEETHORPES AT ROTHERHAM

This last ball boundary collected Cleethorpes an additional point.
REPORT AND PICTURES BY GRAHAM HACKNEY

Cleethorpes 1st X1 unbeaten run in the Yorkshire league was brought to an abrupt end on Saturday when they narrowly failed to chase down a challenging 166 in 35 overs against a strong Rotherham attack in poor conditions on Saturday. They arrived in Rotherham under leaden skies with heavy drizzle falling and this was to prevent play from starting until 2.30pm with the match reduced to 35 overs a side. They had been forced to make late changes to their side with Yaniv Judah and John Zielinski both going down injured with Ryan Harrison and John Mansfield called up as replacements. Rotherham won the toss and elected to set a target with bowling conditions difficult with the wet ball. Overseas Graham Hume made an immediate impact trapping Moorehouse lbw with only the fifth delivery of the match as he and Andy Ellis produced miserly opening spells. Rotherham’s first boundary did not arrive until the 10th over when Randhawa finally broke the shackles to twice drive Ellis to the cover boundary. Hume struck again in the 11th over with debutant John Mansfield taking a steepling catch at midwicket from a mistimed shot from Stuart Guy to leave Rotherham 29/2. A patient half century stand between Randhawa and Simon Guy looked to be putting Rotherham in a strong position before Alex Osmond removed both in quick succession. Once again Rotherham were forced to rebuild with overs ebbing away. The turning point of the match was a forceful fifth wicket stand of 65 as Lowe and Smith took the attack to Cleethorpes with Osmond plundered for four sixes. However they would later rue two golden chances that would cost them at least thirty runs. First Charlie Tomlinson dropped a skier from Lowe with the score on 109 and would then hit the next two balls for boundaries. And then Skipper James Osmond missed Lowe with a sharp legside stumping before he smashed the following deliveries for successive sixes. This took Rotherham to their closing total of 165-5 with Lowe bowled by Osmond for 42 (33 balls) while Smith remained undefeated on 35 in 29 balls. Osmond took some late punishment to record 3/51 in nine overs with Hume 2/49 in ten.
Cleethorpes were in need of a positive start and Bill Kirby and Tomlinson found it as the pair peppered the boundary with a superb opening stand of 41 inside seven overs. Tomlinson had been particularly forceful to anything pitched up but departed having struck 24 in 18 balls as he edged Yorkshire’s Ben Sanderson behind. Sanderson would soon strike again as he claimed Rory and Alex Osmond to successive deliveries with Rory unfortunate as he appeared to get an inside edge before being adjudged lbw. Paul Sunley lead a brief revival with Kirby adding 32 before Kirby was undone by a superb delivery from Randhawa whose offbreak turned square to clip Kirby’s off stump. Kirby fell four short of his fifty having hit a six and four boundaries in his 59-ball innings. Hume (3) , Sunley (24) and James Osmond (7) all fell in the gloom in the vain chase for victory before young Ryan Harrison (18) smashed the final delivery to the boundary to at least give Cleethorpes the consolation of an additional bonus point.

BLYTH SPIRIT ON SHOW FROM NEWCOMERS

By Glen Sands

The North Lindsey League's most recent newcomers to the fold travelled from their Nottinghamshire base to rural Lincolnshire to take on Isle of Axholme side Luddington , a round trip of some seventy plus miles and for one of them it was to be a day to remember as Andy Toft picked up bowling figures of  7 for 46 when Luddington batted first on what was a damp track.
Home skipper Gareth Parkin chose to bat first and saw his team make a steady start as Darren Clark and Garthorpe youngster Joe Woolhouse batted watchfully in the conditions. They took the score to 38 before Woolhouse was trapped LBW by Toft for 12 and Martin Fletcher quickly followed , bowled by Toft for just a single with the total at 46. Clark was beginning to open his shoulders and vice captain Andy Lawson soon got into his stride but Clark then played a false shot and was bowled by visiting skipper Jack Tarr for 35. Danny Taylor was out to a spectacular diving catch to give Toft his third victim of the innings then captain Parkin joined his second in command to take the Luddington total past three figures only to drill a return catch to that man Toft having scored a quickfire nine. Arron Curry had an eventful stay at the crease being dropped from his first delivery and playing on his second into his stumps then Lawson went to his second successive half century with his fourth maximum as he threatened to cut loose. Sadly for him he was caught in the deep when he had reached 59 with the overall total on 129 and without a run being added Toft picked up his seventh wicket when bowling Rick Green. Jamie Arrowsmith continued to make quick runs along with Steve Proctor ( 3 ) and Matt Mellers ( 4 not out ) before he was the last man to go having reached 28 , caught off the bowling of Billy Garland but it was Andy Toft who took the plaudits as he left the field for his exceptional bowling display.
Blyth's response saw them lose wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings which never allowed them to set up a base from whichhey might make a successful chase. Opener Osborne was trapped LBW to Arron Curry for seven and the score had not moved from 15 before fellow opener McLaughlin was bowled by Matt Mellers for six. Garland was next to go , being run out when attempting a suicidal run that was never on the cards then bowling hero Andy Toft clipped a shot straight to Gareth Parkin off Curry for eight which left Blyth on 25 for 4. Ten further runs had been added when Luke Dawson was the fifth wicket to fall , trapped LBW by Rick Green for four then Mellers picked up his second of the innings when bowling Wass and another LBW decision saw Butler back in the pavilion this time off the bowling of Jamie Arrowsmith and the writing was on the wall. Danny Taylor got in on the act when catching number five batsman Cooper off Green for five and the match was brought to a conclusion when Joe Woolhouse bowled Jack Tarr for ten , leaving Blyth some 94 runs behind the Luddington total.
So it's two out of two wins for the Isle side now who travel to Everton on Sunday in the first round of the Cup whilst for Blyth they have a week off before heading to Upton cum Kexby in search of what would be a first victory should they manage to overcome their near neighbours.

Elsewhere at a still rather soggy Heslam Park visiting Outcasts posted a total of 104 for 7 when taking first knock , Josh Bramhill top scoring with 23 after which Matthew Teal added 21 , Matt Pashley picking up 3 for 28 for Scunthorpe who replied by squeezing home by just one wicket , reaching 105 for 9 , Ian Snowden hitting 35 whlst Tom Sharpe and Liam McAnaney took three wickets each for the Isle side.

Cleethorpes 5ths opened their 2012  campaign with a 68 run victory over newly promoted Misterton at Chichester Road, where Simon Taylor hit an unbeaten 64 in their total of 165 for 7 before Matty Owen picked up an excellent haul of 6 for 11 in Misterton's all out total of 97. Andy Genney's Barton Town side won a tight match out on the Isle against Haxey who set a target of 96 all out thanks chiefly to Lewis Mann who hit 31 not out, McDermott taking 3 for 5 and Tom Palin 3 for 14 for the Humbersiders who sneaked home by two wickets with that man McDermott scoring 38 as Haxey's Farr picked up 4 for 25 to keep Haxey in the hunt.

But it was a day to remember for Blyth bowler Andy Toft who finished the innings with terrific figures of 7 for 46. Blyth batted well in reply but were eventually dismissed for 56, Matt Mellers, Arron Curry and Rick Green all taking a couple of wickets apiece. The one other game in Division Three saw Upton cum Kexby score 110 for 8 at home to Everton, thanks chiefly to Martyn Snell who hit 33, but Peter Dobson made 60 not out and Eddie Campbell 44 as Everton eased to 111 for 1 to take their first points of the season.
