TIGHT AT TOP IN BROUGHTON EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE

It is very tight at the top of the Broughton Evening League with three of the four teams separated by just one point, writes Glen Sands.
Leaders Barton Town were beaten for the first time when losing to 2013 Champions Appleby-Frodingham who are now within a point of them in the table.

Frod registered a total of 125 for 9 with Matt Fowler hitting 49 , South African Wouter Ras picking up 5 for 15 and he found form with the bat too when making 33 in Barton's all out score of 76 as the wickets were shared around for Frod.
That loss meant that Luddington were able to go joint top with Barton after they beat Broughton on the Isle. Luddington scored 145 for 6 with 44 from Josh Bramhill , 27 from Darren Clark and 25 not out from skipper Andy Lawson then Paul Mitchell and Rick Green took three wickets each when bowling Broughton out for 100 , Jake Parker top scoring with 31 for the visitors.
