SNAITH EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

SNAITH LEAGUE SHIELD FINAL @ Pollington
Outcasts lifted the Snaith League Shield on July 21st when beating Goole Town by seven wickets at Pollington. Town batted first , making 123 for 4 with Oscar Sugden hitting 31 , Ashton Nottingham 25 and Louis Sugden 24 not out only for Deol Singh to reply with 35 for Outcasts before skipper Anthony Fitzgerald ( 32 not out ) and Andy Torr ( 19 not out ) put together an unbeaten 4th wicket partnership of 58 to spark the Isle sides celebrations.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Goole Town are within one win of retaining the title following their three wicket win over Thorne Colliery who were bowled out for 77 after which Town reached 78 for 7 in a low scoring thriller but second placed Outcasts kept up the pressure when they squeezed to a nine runs victory over Airmyn at Hirst Priory , Jamie Belton scoring 53 not out in their innings of 102 for 4 then Bowlers Graeme Fletcher ( 2 for 9 ) , Jamie Arrowsmith ( 2 for 14 ) and the captain himself ( 2 for 21 ) ensured that Airmyn fell short of their target. The one other Division One game saw Fishlake awarded the points against Askern who called off through lack of numbers late in the day.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Carlton Towers and Sykehouse both clinched promotion when beating Pollington and Drax respectively. Pollington set a target of 120 for 2 against Carlton with Lawson making 68 not out and Smales 50 not out but Scott Woffinden's unbeaten 59 and 43 from Rob Holah saw their team home to a nine wicket victory and it was equally as emphatic for Sykehouse who racked up a huge total of 195 for 6 at Drax thanks in the main to Allen ( 66 ) and Dinnage 63 not out ) , Coulbeck taking 3 for 22 for Drax who then replied with79 for 8 , Adamson scoring 39 of those.Burn won a tight affair at Eggborough who scored 116 for 6 when batting first , Scott Tyson top scoring with 24 for the Power Station side , young starlet Abbott proving to be quite a prospect when picking up 3 for 25 then Tom Cobley took centre stage when hitting 37 not out including five sixes to see his team home despite requiring 19 from the final over. That man Scott Tyson was economical with the ball when finishing with figures of 3 for 14 from Four overs. Finally in Division Two Hensall beat Hirst Courtney by five wickets with Hirst making 130 for 5 when batting first , Jake Wild top scoring with 51 not out only for the in form Richard Whaley to guide his team home with 48 in a score of 131 for 5 , Craig Lawson taking 3 for 16.
