JULY 5 SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE & BORDER CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY ANN BOULTON

The top three in the South Lincolnshire & Border Cricket League consolidated their places with victories over teams in the lower half of the league.
Leaders Grantham chased Welby’s 169 to win by seven wickets while Boston scored a three wicket victory over Long Sutton after Paul Roberts had taken five wickets for 14 runs off 11 overs.
And Matt Benson’s six for 24 helped third placed Lindum Ramblers to victory over Sleaford 2nd.
Moulton Harrox beat fourth placed Bourne 2nd to narrow the gap between the two, despite Tom Bentley’s unbeaten century for Bourne, while Woodhall Spa 2nd’s new signing Chris Anderson made the division’s highest total with 116.
Billingborough 2nd moved back to the top of the Division One despite going down to Friskney by eight wickets and now lead Spalding 2nd – who won a low-scoring game against Heckington by 30 runs – by five points with Market Deeping 2nd 14 behind the leaders following their six wicket victory over Woodlands.
Freiston and Lindum 3rd continue to battle it out at the top of Division Two, Lindum going into the lead after catching up their game in hand over the weekend.
Freiston beat Timberland while Lindum overcame Belton Park 2nd, then Pinchbeck. Ben and Harry Wells made it a family affair against Belton, hitting 59 not out and 66 respectively and Harry then went on to take three wickets.  And on Sunday, Adam Lilley’s 72 propelled him to the top of the list of most runs.
But it was the game between Claypole and Grantham 3rd that provided the highlights of the division as Rob Pealing made the huge total of 180 to propel Claypole to 330 before the final wicket fell, while 19 year old Charlotte Cross claimed six wickets for Grantham who were then bowled out for 82.
