JULY 10 SNAITH EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

Title holders Goole Town won the big game of the day at the top of Division One on July 10th while in Division Two there are now two joint leaders as the season enters the final stages.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Goole Town took on Fishlake who before the game started were just one point behind them in the table and were made to battle hard for their four wicket win. Josh Yeoman hit 45 and Nick Shaw 44 as Fishlake set a target of 124 for 5 then Ollie Ounsley helped to guide Town to victory with46 in a total of 125 for 6 , the winning run coming with just four deliveries remaining. Elsewhere Outcasts were awarded the points against Howden as once again a team failed to travel to Hirst Priory , the result meaning the Isle side currently remain a point behind Goole but with an extra game having been played and finally in Division One there was a thrilling finish between Thorne Colliery and Askern Welfare with the latter squeezing home by just four runs. Scott Mantovani made 49 not out and Aaron Gillies 36 for Welfare who scored 125 for 7 , Connor Pattison taking 4 for 20 for Thorne who replied with 121 for 8 thanks in the main to Ash Langdale but they fell agonisingly short.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Sykehouse and Burn went into their game locked on 20 points at the top of the table and it was Sykehouse who took the spoils when gaining a seven wickets victory. Burn reached 93 for 8 when batting first , James Davies taking 4 for 10 and Oliver Jackson 2 for 8 before Chris Marshall saw his team home with an unbeaten 62 whilst Carlton Towers remain level with Sykehouse after they had a 75 runs win over Hirst Courtney , Carlton hitting 120 for 6 then bowling Hirst out for 54 , Dawson picking up an impressive 5 for 5. Pollington climbed above Hensall in the table following their six wickets win over them. Hensall posted a total of 134 for 9 with 51 from Richard Whaley as Kiddy took 5 for 21 for Pollington them Welburn struck 63 not out as his team replied with 137 for 4 and finally Eggborough beat bottom of the table Drax Village for their second win of the season , setting a target of 119 for 6 with 38 from Drew Pearson and 19 from Scott Tyson before restricting Drax to 89 for 6 although Morris ( 41 ) and Worley ( 27 ) did offer stoic resistance for the visitors.
